MY DRIVING SCHOOL

 

I am a self-employed independent driver trainer based in Carlisle.

 

I am passionate about driving standards and road safety issues, having served for 30 years as a police officer with Cumbria Constabulary, having retired in 2006.

During this service I was an operational traffic patrol officer for 10 years, and for the final 11 years of my service I was a police advanced driving instructor and retired as Head of Driver Training where I was responsible for the delivery of all driver training to all police officers and civilian staff.

I have been trained at the highest level and pride myself of delivering driver training to the highest level.

 

Currently, my core business is teaching people to drive, from absolute beginner, to helping them pass their Driving Standards Agency Driving Test and acquiring a full driving licence in order that they can drive safely and efficiently for life.

 

I have been a DSA Approved Driving Instructor, teaching learner drivers for 11 years and have never been lower than a Grade 6 Approved Driver Instructor, which is the highest grade awarded with less than 6% of all ADIs' holding this grade.

 

I strongly believe in the principle of 'Quality and Care' before quantity, and my pass rates have always been well above average as listed hereunder:

 

2009. My pass rate = 84%. (National pass rate 45.9%)

 

2010. My pass rate = 86%. ( National pass rate 46.3%)

 

2011. My pass rate = 84% (National pass rate 47.3%)


I only had four candidates taking two attempts at passing, and the remainder passing first time. 8% of my candidates passed without incurring any driving faults/errors.

 

I take great pride in the performance of my pupils and assist them by encouraging them to take responsibility for their learning. I issue all my clients with free loan of teaching material for both their theory/hazard perception tests, and their practical driving test. This ensures that not only will their development be quicker, but they will require fewer lessons and therefore saving them both time and money.

I will not give them driving lessons they do not need.

 

I deliver training from learner level, based of the DSA Syllabus, to Advanced/Defensive driving based on the Police system of 'Roadcraft' regarded to be the best there is and providing safe, efficient and economical benefits.

 

I have the dedication, qualifications, and experience to deliver training to the highest standard, unlike some driving instructors who advertise 'advanced driving' and perhaps struggle to explain what exactly advanced driving comprises of !!

 

I am an Examiner for ROSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders Association and a driving consultant for Ride Drive Ltd for Northern England.

 

I also have extensive experience in more specialist driving and training.
